The Merra-Lee shop opened in 1929 when founders Sol Simon and Rose Becker Kozberg decided to bring the latest clothing fashions at affordable prices to Geneva, IL. In 1941 the boutique moved to its new location at the corner of State and Third Streets, former site of the Betsy Ross Tea Room in the historic Geneva Hotel.
Over the years, the Merra-Lee family of specialty fashion boutiques grew along the north block of Third Street to include, East Room - formal dresses for mothers-of-the-wedding, She She - lingerie, bras & pajamas, Meeting Place and Boutique 15 for higher-end designer fashions.
After 82 years in business, The Merra-Lee Shops closed their doors on January 28, 2012.
